Inova Loudoun Hospital Life with Cancer and Loudoun Breast Health Network to Host Annual Free Community Event

Free Community Event: Breast Cancer Survivors’ Retreat 

LEESBURG, VA – October 5, 2016 – To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Loudoun County, the Inova Loudoun Hospital Life with Cancer and Loudoun Breast Health Network are hosting Pathways to Survivorship: A Breast Cancer Survivors’ Retreat on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Inova Loudoun Hospital, 44045 Riverside Parkway, Leesburg, in Conference Rooms A&B (South Lobby Entrance). The Retreat will start with educational sessions from 9:30 a.m. – noon:

  • Managing Anxiety and Providing Self Care, Sam Lolak, MD, Psychiatrist, Life with Cancer
  • Nutrition and Survivorship, Eric Cohen, RN, OCN, Clinical Nutritionist, Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health
  • Drumming, Saundra Weller, LCSW, Manager, Oncology Navigation and Counseling-Inova Loudoun Hospital, Life with Cancer

The Survivors Retreat Open House, noon – 3 p.m., will showcase information and community resources.  Attendees will enjoy an array of complimentary giveaways and services including: wigs, bras, scarves and hats; soft pocket prostheses; makeup kits and makeovers; bra fittings; drumming demonstrations; chair massages; acupuncture and facials; healing touch/yoga demonstrations; door prizes; refreshments and appetizers and much more.

Life with Cancer™ is part of Northern Virginia’s Inova Health System. The organization’s goal is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by cancer by providing education, information, and support completely free of charge, regardless of where treatment is received. Life with Cancer provides a unique approach to cancer education and support with both full-time Oncology Certified Nurses and Licensed Clinical Social Workers on staff. From diagnosis to survivorship, Life with Cancer offers those affected by cancer more than 60 different programs a month, including nutrition, exercise, support, education, and a variety of complimentary therapies, like Yoga, Reiki, meditation, and expressive arts.
