Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children Holds 2nd Annual 8K Run/Walk

Families and Competitive Runners from Across Northern Virginia to Attend; Proceeds Benefit Pediatric Heart Program

Falls Church, VA – (October 9, 2007) — Lace up your sneakers and gather the family for Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children’s second annual Star Kid 8K Run/Walk at George Mason University on Sunday, Oct. 21. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Pediatric Heart Program, which involves an exceptional team of pediatric cardiovascular surgeons, pediatric cardiologists, electrophysiologists and anesthesiologists. This dedicated group diagnoses and treats complex pediatric cases. Last year’s event attracted 450 runners and raised more than $60,000.

The Star Kid 8K Run/Walk will take place at a USATF certified 8K course though the campus of George Mason University and surrounding areas of Fairfax. There will also be a separate Family Fun Run around Patriot Circle.

Race festivities include drawings for prizes during the awards ceremony, food and refreshments, and music provided by MIX 107.3. Children can enjoy the “Get Moving with Ronald McDonald” show, an interactive performance that includes magic, music, dancing and games.

The top three male and female finishers will receive cash prizes ranging from $125 to $500. Additional prizes will be awarded to the first and second male and female winners in each of the five-year age groups, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over. Participants may also run as part of a team, which can include up to 10 people.
