Urgent Need for Blood Donors – All Blood Types Needed Immediately

Falls Church, VA – Inova’s blood supply has reached critically low levels and we need donors immediately for all types of blood.

Blood donations over the past month have been dramatically impacted by a rise in COVID-19 cases in our region, holiday travels, and inclement weather; and the supply can only be replenished by volunteer donors.

We need all blood types, but a boost to the supply of Type O will help patients in need significantly.

All Inova Blood Donor Centers are open for the rest of the week and we will extend hours as needed to accommodate donors.

It is imperative to increase and maintain the blood supply to support our community’s sickest patients.  Inova Blood Donor Services supports a Level One Trauma Center and two Level Three Trauma Centers.  The need for blood never stops and there is no substitute for human blood when it is needed for a patient.

It is safe to donate blood.  Inova Blood Donor Services has several safety measures in place due to COVID-19 to provide a safe donation experience for blood donors who visit their local donor center. Generous donors are needed now to ensure we can continue to provide an adequate and safe blood supply for our community’s patients.  Each donation can save up to three lives, and takes less than an hour to donate.

Make your appointment or ask questions about your eligibility to donate in the next few days by calling 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372) or visiting inovablood.org.
