Falls Church, VA – Inova Blood Donor Services is urging all individuals who are healthy and well to donate blood, plasma, and platelets.
Due to COVID-19, cancellations of blood drives from High Schools to Community to Business Partners have caused a critical shortage in the blood supply in our area and throughout the United States. We are urging all who can to donate at your local blood center in order to provide safe, pure, potent and adequate blood products to our patients.
Inova Blood Donor Services provides life-saving blood to Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC region. All blood types are currently needed.
Over 250 volunteer blood donors are needed every day to ensure a safe, pure, potent, and adequate blood supply to ensure all patients have the opportunity to heal. Generous and healthy donors are needed to make a difference and save up to three lives with less than an hour of their time.
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have stated that blood donor centers are safe and have universal precautions at all times. There is no COVID-19 risk to blood donors during the donation process. There is also no additional risk to patients receiving blood transfusions.
