Critical Need for Rh Negative Blood Type Donors and Platelet Donors Continues
Sterling, VA – The Washington, DC region is experiencing a critical shortage of Rh Negative red blood cells. Inova Blood Donor Services is in immediate need of donations from individuals with blood types of O-, A-, and B -. Donors are needed as soon as possible to re-stock our supply to ensure patients from across Northern Virginia have the blood they need to heal.
Current inventory report issued on May 8 shows:
- 2 units of O Negative blood out of 75 units desired (can be used for any blood type patients)
- 7 units of A Negative blood out of 75 units desired (can be used for Type A or AB patients)
- 2 units of B Negative blood out of 15 units desired (can be used for Type B or AB patients)
