Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery: Is it for Me? and Staying ahead of Colorectal Disease: Symptoms, Screenings & Treatment Options
Leesburg, VA – As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host two lectures in March – “Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery: Is it for Me?” on Tuesday, March 19 and “Staying ahead of Colorectal Disease: Symptoms, Screenings & Treatment Options” on Tuesday, March 26. Both lectures will be from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
The average person will experience an episode of significant back pain at some point during their lifetime. While most patients will recover with minimal time away from work or impact to their daily lives, about 10 percent of patients will need additional care from a physician who specializes in spine surgery. In some cases, minimally invasive spine surgery may be recommended. These procedures yield smaller incisions and allow the patient to go home the same day as the surgery. Attendees will meet Inova Loudoun Hospital’s new neurosurgeon, Dr. Anje Kim, and learn more about minimally invasive spine surgery.
Colon and rectal cancer is a disease that can be detected early, which allows for excellent treatment options. Technological advancements have made it easier than ever to undergo screening and to remove any tumors that are found. Despite this, many people do not undergo screening due to uncertainty or misinformation. Join Board Certified Colorectal Surgeon Dr. Timothy Plerhoples for an interactive lecture that will address the value of colorectal cancer screening and today’s treatment options.
The lectures will be held at Inova Loudoun Hospital — Physician’s Office Building, 44055 Riverside Parkway, Suite 110, Leesburg. Follow signs for the South Hospital Entrance. Free on-site parking and valet services are available.
Participation is free but seating is limited. To register visit inova.org/AskTheExpert or call 1.855.MY.INOVA (855.694.6682).
