Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implants, Erectile Dysfunction & Male Incontinence and Sudden Cardiac Arrest: Risk Factors, Treatment & Prevention
Leesburg, VA – As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host three lectures in February – “Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implants” on Monday, Feb. 11, “Erectile Dysfunction & Male Incontinence” on Wednesday, Feb. 13 and “Sudden Cardiac Arrest: Risk Factors, Treatment & Prevention” on Tuesday, Feb. 26. All lectures will be from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Hearing loss can be isolating. Depending on the disease process, some patients can be successfully treated with medicine or surgery. Irreversible sensorineural hearing loss – the most common form of hearing loss – may be managed with hearing aids. When hearing aids are not enough, cochlear implantation may be an option for hearing restoration. Join Board Certified Otolaryngologist Dr. Roya Azadarmaki for an interactive discussion about cochlear implants and other surgical hearing restoration services. These procedures can often improve a person’s quality of life, optimize communication with friends and family and minimize potential feelings of isolation.
“Below the belt” pelvic health issues like erectile dysfunction and incontinence are common concerns among men. These conditions and their varying symptoms – including sexual difficulties – can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life. Fortunately, these conditions can often be reversed with treatment. Board Certified Urologist Dr. Kambiz Tajkarimi will provide an interactive lecture on erectile dysfunction and male incontinence. Learn more about the basic anatomy, causes for these common conditions, and the varying treatment options available.
Heart disease can happen at any age. According to the CDC, half of all Americans are affected by at least one of the top three risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking. February, National Heart Month, is the perfect time to learn about your risk for heart disease and the preventive measures you can take to lower your risk. Join heart and vascular specialist Dr. Ather Anis for an interactive discussion about heart disease and sudden cardiac arrest. Often misused as a description for “heart attack,” sudden cardiac arrest is the abrupt loss of heart function in a person who may or may not have been diagnosed with heart disease. It happens suddenly and can be fatal if appropriate steps aren’t taken immediately. Learn more about the risk factors, treatment options, and preventive measures for cardiac arrest. The lecture also includes a hands-only CPR demonstration led by the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute – Schaufeld Family Heart Center team.
The lectures will be held at Inova Loudoun Hospital — Physician’s Office Building, 44055 Riverside Parkway, Suite 110, Leesburg. Follow signs for the South Hospital Entrance. Free on-site parking and valet services are available.
