Loudoun County facility to be renamed to Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park as the two organizations launch new programs and initiatives to improve the overall health of the community
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — July 25, 2016 — The Washington Redskins and Inova announce today a strategic partnership to bring timely and relevant health and wellness information and programs to the community.
As part of the multi-year partnership, and to showcase that health and wellness are core to the foundation of a professional football team, the team’s practice facility located in Loudoun Country, Va., will be renamed the “Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park.”
In 2014, the Redskins launched Redskins Health & Wellness (www.redskinshealthandwellness.com) in an effort to provide fans access to the team’s trainers and physicians. Inova’s comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient services, facilities, primary and specialty care practices, as well as its health and wellness initiatives will partner with the Redskins to improve and expand the Health & Wellness platform.
The partnership will produce timely and relevant health and wellness content including articles, videos and specialists for the annual Redskins Health & Wellness TV special that airs on NBC 4 (WRC) and the creation of a 30-minute weekly radio sports medicine talk show “Ask the Doctor presented by Inova” on SportsTalk 570 (WSPZ). Additional programming will include Inova Sports Medicine-Redskins Medical Minute on ESPN980, a podcast library of sports and general medicine information, and “Find a Doctor” program to help our fans connect with Inova’s doctors, services and programs.
“Inova is proud to partner with the Washington Redskins and support our hometown team with the establishment of the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park,” said Loring Flint, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Inova. “Whether you are a star athlete, a parent of an active child or a weekend sports enthusiast, Inova Sports Medicine is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of everyone in our community.”
In addition, both organizations will work to design new programs that will help improve the overall health of the community, including concussion base-line testing for elementary, high school and college athletes, breast cancer awareness programs and more.
“We are not only excited, we are honored to be working with Inova, a world class leader in healthcare,” said Terry Bateman, Redskins EVP / CMO. “This partnership will benefit the community and uphold our commitment to have the healthiest fans in the NFL.”
