Fun for Everyone at Family Fest

Event is Set for Saturday, August 20 at the Dulles Town Center

Leesburg, VA – (August 19, 2011) – Inova Loudoun Hospital is proud to be the presenting sponsor for the 8th Annual Family Fest, produced by JP Events & Consulting.  This exciting, family-oriented community event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 20 at the Dulles Town Center, 21100 Dulles Town Circle, Dulles, VA.  Admission is free and is easily accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.

The daylong event will feature activities focusing on family health and safety, nutrition, education, community awareness and, of course, fun.  There will be hands-on, interactive stations, exhibits, demonstrations and live stage entertainment including:

  • 10:30 – 11 a.m.   Ryan Buckle & Friends: It’s Science You Can Sing To!
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m.  Irish Step Dancing
  • Noon – 12:30 p.m.  Hip Hop Larry!
  • 1 – 2 p.m.    Lord & Taylor Back to School Fashion Show
  • 2:30 – 3 p.m.   Cheer and Dance Exhibition
  • 3 – 3:30 p.m.  Hip Hop Larry!
  • 3:30 – 4 p.m.   Fun and Games with Brian

The Washington Mystics mascot will be onsite from 11 a.m. to noon, stop by and say hello.

Kids can play with a large model train display at WAMALUG exhibit.  Curiosity Zone will have an interactive science station set up all day, Leesburg Rocket Robotics will get kids excited about science and technology through building autonomous robots, and children of all ages will be amazed with face painter Dee Vinchey.

Attendees can also visit these participants:

  • Inova Mobile Health Services will be offering free screening which may include blood pressure and body mass index, educational displays and handouts
  • Bobby “D” the amazing balloon guy, more than the average balloon twister
  • Michael Horne: he’ll tower over you in his amazing costumes and stilt walking ability
  • Inova Blood Donor Services: the bloodmobile will be onsite for those interested in making a difference in someone’s life by donating blood
  • Sterling Volunteer Rescue & Sterling Volunteer Fire Department: will provide safety information and giveaways
  • Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office: will issue Child Photo ID Cards and distribute safety information
  • Inova Loudoun Hospital will be collecting backpacks and school supplies for needy children in Loudoun County

The first 100 families to arrive and register on-site will receive a free gift.  All families are encouraged to participate in the “Family Passport” game for a chance to win prizes from the treasure chest.  Families can also register to win a $500 shopping spree.
