Inova Loudoun Hospital Hosts Virtual Walk to Remember

Leesburg, VA – In honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss and Awareness Month (October) and World Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day (October 15), Inova Loudoun Hospital (ILH) is hosting its third annual Walk to Remember.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s walk will be a virtual event to ensure the health and well-being of attendees, team members and the community.  Participants will walk a one mile course of their choice between Thursday, October 15 and Sunday, October 18, 2020. Participants photos and stories will be shared on The Birthing Inn at Inova Loudoun Hospital Facebook page during this timeframe. To share a photo or personal story, please email julie.costanzo@inova.org.

One in four women will tragically lose a baby during pregnancy, delivery or infancy. ILH invites you to honor these babies and families by participating in ILH’s third annual Walk to Remember.

Other ways you can honor babies and bereaved families:

  • Make a donation to the Inova Loudoun Hospital Bereavement Fund, which provides comfort and support to families who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
  • Participate in the International Wave of Light by lighting a candle at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020. This event honors all babies who have gone too soon. Keep the candle lit for at least one hour to create a continuous “wave of light” across all time zones around the globe. Use the hashtag #WaveofLight2020 if you choose to share photos on social media.
  • Tie pink and blue remembrance ribbons around the trunks of trees for the month of October.
