Changes to telemedicine coverage for Medicare patients
During the COVID-19 pandemic, temporary federal waivers expanded telemedicine access for patients of Medicare or Medicare Advantage programs. On October 1, CMS announced that these waivers had expired.
For patients insured by these plans, this impacts any upcoming virtual appointments with your healthcare provider.
If your health plan will no longer cover your upcoming virtual appointment, we will contact you to arrange an in-person appointment and ensure you get the care you need.

Can’t believe Medicare is taking televisits from the most venerable population! How cruel to those who often have trouble arranging transportation. Many in person visits are not needed and in person arrangements are often not needed. In other words a hands on visit is not necessary, and can be handled with a televisit. What hard and uncaring personnel for the elderly came up with this? It is often harder to get to an appointment in the city than in country. I cannot drive and need to arrange for transportation. I believe many other seniors are in the same position and televisits are a life saver. Shame on who canceled this program.
I am on Medicare, and I’m not pleased that they won’t continue to support telehealth visits. Fortunately for me, my secondary healthcare plan, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal Employee Program, will cover telehealth visits.
Thank you
