Blood Donors at Inova Get COVID-19 Antibody Testing
Before donated blood is given to a patient, Inova Blood Donor Services has historically tested it for 13 infectious diseases ranging from HIV to Zika. Starting this week, we are adding another test to the lineup: a test for COVID-19 antibodies that could show if a blood donor has had the virus.
If a donor’s blood contains COVID-19 antibodies, he or she may have the opportunity to participate in a convalescent plasma research study.
