Leesburg, VA – Alexia Orr has been voted in as the 39th President of The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital. Orr and a new slate of officers were recently elected to serve as the new leadership team from July 2016 until July 2018.

“It is an honor to represent this dynamic group of women,” said Orr. She is an active registered nurse who dedicates much of her time to volunteering on projects run by the 104-year-old charity.

“We have a great time working together while raising funds for patient care and nursing scholarships,” continued Orr. “As a nurse, I see first-hand the ongoing need for quality healthcare which is central to our fund-raising mission.”

Among the new president’s goals are to attract at least ten new members in the next year and an even greater number the following year. Orr says it’s a matter of reaching out to the community and asking others to get involved. “Like many women, I work part-time, have a family, a very active life…and I make time to give back. I’m confident there are many women looking for the right opportunity to help their local community and be part of a great organization. The Ladies Board fits that bill and those are the women I want to reach.”

Other new officers are Susan Mills, First Vice President; Carol Slatten, Second Vice President; Susan Courtney, Treasurer; Karolyn Whiteley, Recording Secretary; Lillian Brewer, Parliamentarian; and Rene Bradford, Corresponding Secretary and Pat Bigden, Historian.

The Ladies Board gave $311,388 to the hospital and awarded another $100,000 in nursing scholarships for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. Active members engage in numerous fundraising efforts including two retail shops Twice is Nice and the Inova Loudoun Gift Shop; the Annual Ladies Board Rummage Sale; the Polly Clemens Nursery Fund; and the Lights of Love remembrance program. Net proceeds from these projects are used to support patient care at Inova Loudoun Hospital and to award nursing scholarships each spring.
