Federal Government Shut Down Cancels Blood Drives

Donors urged to make up deficit

FALLS CHURCH, VA (October 1, 2013) – As a result of the federal government shut down, four federal agency blood drives have been canceled resulting in a projected loss of over 300 voluntary donations. Those lost donations would have supported the transfusion needs of 900 patients across Maryland, DC and Virginia. Inova Blood Donor Services provides blood to 24 hospitals in the region and is urgently requesting donors to give blood at the following locations:

Blood Donor Center Hours – Wednesday, October 2
CenterMed Donor Center            Noon to 8:00 p.m.
Dulles Donor Center                   10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Woodburn Donor Center             Noon to 8:00 p.m.

Blood Donor Center Hours – Thursday, October 3
CenterMed Donor Center            Noon to 8:00 p.m.
Dulles Donor Center                   10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  (Special Hours – Will be open)
Woodburn Donor Center             10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
