Inova Alexandria Hospital Named ‘Partner in Education’ By Alexandria City Public Schools

Award Highlights Strong Collaboration to Improve Students’ Well-Being

Alexandria, VA – (July 28, 2010) – Inova Alexandria Hospital has been named a “Partner in Education” by Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) for introducing iPATH, a program developed to encourage healthy eating and exercise among students.

“Community involvement has always been part of our commitment to those we serve and we are pleased to be recognized for these efforts to improve the lives of students at an early age,” said Christine Candio, CEO, Inova Alexandria Hospital. “Our partnership with the ACPS provides a unique opportunity to make a difference in the health of students and their families through Inova’s iPATH program.”

iPATH (Inova Partnering Actively Toward Health), is a 10-week after-school program for student leaders that occurs in the Fall and Spring. iPATH encourages healthy lifestyles in school systems in the City of Alexandria, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties.

Partner in Education Award recipients are recognized for bringing innovative and meaningful activities to students that significantly impact their learning and development. Inova Alexandria Hospital earned the District Partner in Education award for working with students and administrators across the school system to implement the iPATH program.
