According to GCF, more than 78,000 women are diagnosed each year with a gynecologic cancer, such as ovarian, endometrial or cervical. Patients at the Women’s Center at Inova Fairfax Hospital are treated by a multidisciplinary team of gynecologic oncologists, radiologists and pathologists. Patients also have access to a patient care navigator, who guides patients and their families through the entire medical process, from diagnosis through treatment and recovery.

GCF was established in 1991 by the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists to promote public awareness of gynecologic cancers and to educate women about prevention, early detection and post-diagnosis treatments. It is the only national organization dedicated to the eradication of all gynecologic cancers. Since 1995, GCF has provided more than $5 million in research funding.
