John Gaul Provides Wide Range of Legal Expertise

Falls Church, VA – (September 30, 2009) – John Gaul has been named Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Inova Health System, Northern Virginia’s premier not-for-profit healthcare provider and a leader in excellence in patient care, clinical research and education.

In his role, Mr. Gaul will provide oversight for all legal matters relating to Inova, including corporate governance, litigation, regulatory compliance and transactional activity. He will provide legal consultation and leadership to Inova’s senior management team and all of its operating units.

“John Gaul brings a wide range of legal expertise and business experience to Inova,” said Todd Stottlemyer, Executive Vice President, Corporate Services. “The management of healthcare is complex and requires a special set of legal and larger world experiences. Inova is fortunate to have someone of John’s talent and depth join our organization.”

Mr. Gaul has most recently served as General Counsel and Secretary of Sunrise Senior Living Inc., a publicly traded company that develops and operates more than 400 senior-living communities in the U.S. and internationally. Before that, Mr. Gaul was a partner in the Corporate, Securities and Finance practice group of Hogan & Hartson LLP.

Mr. Gaul graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of The Tax Lawyer law review. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University, graduating cum laude in accounting.
