Inova Neuroscience and Spine Institute Expands World Class Neurosurgery Team

FALLS CHURCH, VA – November 4, 2015 – Inova Medical Group today announced the hire of two new neurosurgeons – Brian McHugh, MD and Gail Rosseau, MD.

Dr. McHugh joins Inova Fairfax Medical Group as a neurosurgeon from the Hospital for Special Surgery/Cornell University Department of Orthopedic Spine in New York. While there, he completed a fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Scoliosis and Spinal Deformity Surgery. He is also an expert in minimally invasive spine surgery and spinal deformity surgery.

Dr. Rosseau joins Inova Neuroscience and Spine Institute as Associate Chair, Neurosurgery-Based Programs and Director, Residency Program and Stereotactic Radiosurgery. She most recently served as director of skull base surgery at North Shore University Health System. Her expertise is in caring for patients with cranial base disorders, including extensive experience with pituitary tumors, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas and head and neck malignancies. Rosseau is one of only 300 female neurosurgeons in the United States.

“My goal is to create a world class team of physicians and surgeons who are focused on innovative precision medicine research combined with patient-centered care,” said James Ecklund, MD, Chairman of the Inova Neuroscience Institute. “Dr. Rosseau and Dr. McHugh bring substantial expertise in both areas and we look forward to working closely with both of these outstanding surgeons and welcome them to our growing team.”

Dr. McHugh attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and received neurosurgery training at Yale University. Dr. Rosseau completed her Neurosurgical residency at George Washington University and a Pituitary and Skull base fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Inova Neuroscience and Spine Institute will be a cornerstone of the new Inova Center for Personalized Health (ICPH), announced earlier this year. ICPH will lead the way in the integration of genomics into personalized medicine and individualized wellness. This personalized health approach enables the Institute to create individualized treatments and preventive analytics to predict illness and promote wellness for every individual.

I am searching for a neurologist who specializes in foot pain and/or RSDS/CRPS. Does anyone at the clinic there or any other Inova-related facility treat or diagnose such areas?
