Inova Mount Vernon Hospital To Unveil Redesigned Infusion Center

Center Will Incorporate Artwork and Other Comforts for Improved Ambiance

Alexandria, VA – (February 12, 2007) – In an effort to provide a more healing, peaceful environment for patients receiving outpatient infusion services, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital has transformed its infusion center into an area that is more pleasing to the senses. Renovations to the center, where patients go for chemotherapy and other intravenous services, include new flooring, brighter wall colors, improved lighting, inspirational artwork, and individual television and entertainment units for use during treatment. New beds and therapeutic recliners also have been installed to help make a patient’s time there more comfortable.

“Visual arts and better lighting can be used as a way of transforming the typical medical environment into one of vibrant colors and inspiration,” says Divyang Trivedi, MD, hematologist and oncologist, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. “These types of renovations are known to not only make patients feel more at ease, but they are also known to bolster the healing process.”

I was recently a patient in Dec 2017 at the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA, and the artwork on the 5th floor outside my room was so beautiful that the moment I saw the vibrant colors I couldn’t take my eyes off it! I anxiously awaited each time I was able to take in the beauty, whether being wheeled in my bed to have a MRI or walking to a physical therapy session. I even looked to see if any signatures were visible so that I could find the artwork once I was released. I warned my therapist many times that if I could I would leave with one of the paintings because they were calling out my name… Unfortunately that did not happen. I agree that the art and lighting created an environment able to bolster the healing process and I thank you for that effort.
