Preventing and Treating Injuries in Student Athletes
Leesburg, VA – (May 14, 2013) – As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host “Preventing and Treating Injuries in Student Athletes” on Tuesday, May 28 at 6 p.m.
If your child plays sports, whether an organized youth or competitive athletic program, you know injuries are always a risk. In fact, high school athletes account for an estimated 2 million injuries, 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations annually. Learn about what can be done to reduce those risks and the best course of action if an injury occurs.
Join Dr. Matthew Gavin, an orthopedic surgeon, for an overview for parents, coaches and athletic trainers on how you can help prevent sports injuries in young athletes and treatment options available.
The lecture will be at Broadlands Community Center, 43004 Waxpool Road, Broadlands. Participation is free, but registration is requested. Register online at inova.org/asktheexpert or call 855-MY-INOVA (694-6682).
