Inova Health System’s Military to Medicine Program Joins National Healthcare Career Network

Becomes Gateway for Military Talent to Enter Healthcare Industry

Falls Church, VA – (July 28, 2010)—Inova Health System’s Military to Medicine program has joined the National Healthcare Career Network (NHCN). The NHCN is an initiative that brings healthcare organizations together to provide job placement and advancement opportunities; career development tools, training, scholarships and resources to mitigate worker shortage challenges facing the healthcare marketplace.

Founding partner, the American Hospital Association (AHA), is rallying hospitals and healthcare systems. “The goal is to address millions of critical, yet unfilled positions—a trend in our field that is impacting hospitals now and will be a greater challenge in the future”, said Anthony J. Burke, President and CEO of AHA Solutions (an American Hospital Association company). “We welcome all healthcare employers – large and small, national and regional – to join us.”

Employers and associations participating in the NHCN gain greater exposure for each job posting. Not only will postings appear on the Military to Medicine job board, they will also be shared with every relevant network participant. Healthcare employers will be able to use the NHCN to find talent faster—selecting from the largest pool of candidates with certifications, extensive healthcare training and specialized knowledge available. The NHCN’s technology is powered by Boxwood, the leading provider of online career centers to associations and professional trade organizations.

“We’re very excited for Military to Medicine to serve as the primary channel for military talent entering the private healthcare workforce. We know how critical it is for employers to attract first-rate talent with a minimum expenditure of time and resources,” said Daniel Nichols, Executive Director, Military to Medicine, Inova Health System. “And it’s important for us to help Veterans and others from the extended military family make a smooth career transition.”

More than 200 top healthcare associations and professional organizations have joined the NHCN devoting resources to help healthcare resolve its crisis.

The NHCN is actively recruiting healthcare associations and professional trade organizations to participate. For more information, visit www.nationalhealthcarecareernetwork.com.
