‘Fit for 50’ Program to Motivate Individuals for 50 Days
Falls Church, VA – (August 15, 2010) – Inova Health System is teaming up with Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green to encourage everyone in the community to become fitter and stronger and lead longer and healthier lives.
Long known as the “NFL’s fastest man,” Green, the 50-year-old athlete who played 20 seasons with the Washington Redskins, is providing daily tips and advice on how to commit to a more active lifestyle as part of the “Fit for 50” program, which is free for participants.
“I’ve always believed you can do extraordinary things with ordinary bodies,” said Green. “I’m thrilled to be working together with Inova and on a program that can help people have healthier and happier lives.”
Participants can go to FitFor50.org to sign up for the 50-day program, which launches Sept. 10. Virtual team members will receive a “Fitter. Stronger. Longer.” bracelet and access to an online, user-friendly Playbook that will help them break old habits and form healthy new ones. The site will also feature daily tips, weekly updates, a goal tracker and motivational videos from Darrell Green and from Inova doctors and medical experts. The first 5,000 participants to sign up will receive a free pedometer.
“We’re excited to partner with Darrell to encourage more and more people to make a commitment to get up off the couch and live healthier,” said Knox Singleton, CEO, Inova Health System. “Part of our mission is to help people in the community harness the dynamics of fitness to gain the powerful and positive impact it can have in their lives.”
Participants will get a chance to meet Green at the inaugural “Fit for 50 Health and Fitness Day,” which will be held at George Mason University on Sunday, October 10.
