Seniors and Caregivers Can Access Books and Online Resources

Falls Church, VA – (December 29, 2010) – On December 9, Inova Fairfax Hospital officially opened the Joanne G. Crantz, MD, Geriatric Resource Center, an innovative and interactive addition to the hospital’s Health Sciences Library. Seniors and their caregivers will have access to valuable information and education to ease the process of making hard decisions and dealing with daily life.

The Geriatric Resource Center houses an extensive book collection, free pamphlets from national and local organizations, a specialized internet portal, a low-vision adaptive computer station with a large print keyboard, and hands-on assistive technology devices, such as the Sight, Touch, Sound Program.

The center will also provide educational programs to the community, and there will be an annual Literature & Medicine book discussion about healthcare topics associated with geriatrics.

The Geriatric Resource Center is made possible by a generous gift to the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) in honor of Dr. Crantz.
