2011 Healthy Lifestyle MVP Award Recipients Recognized

Inova Health System and Washington Mystics honor healthy role models

(August 11, 2011) – In support of our on-going partnership to improve the health of the metropolitan community, Inova Health System and the Washington Mystics are honoring seven recipients of the 2011 Healthy Lifestyle MVP Award, recognizing community members and groups that have made a significant contribution to healthy lifestyles among young people:

  • Nicole Greiner of Alexandria, Virginia for promoting healthy lifestyles in a  volunteer capacity
  • Skye Donova of Arlington, Virginia for promoting healthy lifestyles in a volunteer capacity
  • Melissa Merson of Arlington, Virginia for promoting healthy lifestyles in a volunteer capacity
  • David Milne of Haymarket, Virginia for promoting health lifestyles in a volunteer capacity
  • Gladys Castellon of Arlington, Virginia for promoting healthy lifestyles among peers under the age of 18
  • Arlington Teen Network Board Substance Abuse Sub-Committee of Arlington, Virginia for a group promoting healthy lifestyles for community youth
  • Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia of Fairfax, Virginia for a group promoting healthy lifestyles for community youth

Recipients will be honored August 12, 2011 at a special courtside Party Zone reception at the Verizon Center during the Washington Mystics basketball game vs. the New York Liberty. Individual winners will receive 4 complimentary tickets and the group winner will receive 10 complimentary tickets to attend a Party Zone celebration, which includes food and beverages during the game. Winners will also be recognized during a half-time presentation.

“These individuals and groups were nominated by peers who recognized not only their care and concern for the health of others, but have chosen to engage within their sphere of influence to advocate for health and well-being,” commented Rod Williams, Vice President, Community Affairs, Inova Health System.  “We appreciate their every effort as, together, we work to realize the benefits of a healthy lifestyle among our community’s youth promising a productive, more satisfying personal and professional life.”
